5 Transfer Portal Landing Spots For Marvin Jones Jr. Include Maryland, Ole Miss

Florida State transfer Marvin Jones Jr. is on the move again, but where are some transfer portal landing spots for the former five-star recruit?

Florida State Seminoles edge rusher Marvin Jones Jr. entered the transfer portal after breaking out in his redshirt sophomore season. Jones was a five-star recruit when he chose the Georgia Bulldogs out of high school but hasn’t hit his potential yet. With multiple years of remaining eligibility, he could have high Power Four interest.

Which teams could be interested? Here are five potential transfer portal landing spots for Jones.

Where Could Marvin Jones Jr. Transfer?

There’s a reason Jones was a five-star recruit and he’s flashed that ability, especially after transferring to Florida State. Still, he wasn’t a dominant pass-rusher and saw his snaps drop significantly during the last month of the season.

He had 17 pressures and four sacks and was not bad by any metric. However, there’s a sense that there’s more in the tank, so to speak.

After spending time at two Blue Bloods, there’s a sense he could transfer to a solid yet unspectacular Power Four school. He’s looking to take his development to the next level with the potential to elevate his 2026 NFL Draft stock.

Here are a few potential landing spots for Jones.

    Maryland Terrapins

The Maryland Terrapins are experiencing a lot of turnover both in and out of the portal. I expect them to take at least a dozen players out of the transfer portal to boost the roster. The defensive line wasn’t great this season, and that’s a position they’ll look to improve.

A source close to College Football Network indicated that Jones and Maryland have mutual interest and that he’s already visited College Park early in the portal window.

    Ole Miss Rebels

Continuity on a coaching staff is a beautiful thing regarding working connections in the transfer portal. Lane Kiffin has become somewhat of a “Portal King” and the Ole Miss Rebels were in on Jones early when he signed with Georgia out of high school.

Area recruiter Kevin Smith is still on staff, and Jones could target Ole Miss, especially after the Rebels put multiple defensive linemen on All-SEC teams.

    UCF Knights

New head coach Scott Frost will build his team in the trenches, and Jones could find more success in the Big 12. The UCF Knights needed to be tougher on the defensive line last season and they could look to build through the transfer portal.

There’s a natural connection with Jones being from Florida, and he seems like a good fit with the Knights, should they push to land him.

    Alabama Crimson Tide

The Alabama Crimson Tide will take a record number of transfers in year two under Kalen DeBoer as he works to reshape a thinner-than-expected roster. Jones was recruited by area recruiter Robert Gillespie out of high school and Gillespie was retained in the coaching change.

The Crimson Tide has a lot to offer. Should they push, Jones could thrive with a school known for developing defensive linemen.

    Miami Hurricanes

Another team that loves to use the portal, the Miami Hurricanes defense cost them a playoff spot this season. Accordingly, they’ll beef up the line and bring in several defensive playmakers.

Jones’ father is a Florida State legend, so I’m unsure if his son will look at the Seminoles’ rivals. Still, we’ve seen players go to rivals before, especially in the age of the transfer portal. Jones would be a fit for a position of need for the Hurricanes.
