Drew Allar Injury Update: Penn State’s QB Exits Game vs. Wisconsin, Out During Second Half

Drew Allar did not return to action in the second half for Penn State against Wisconsin, putting his status for next week's game against Ohio State in jeopardy.

The Penn State Nittany Lions have a date with destiny if they can get past the Wisconsin Badgers in Week 9. Getting by Week 9 with a win is key to set up a top-five matchup with Ohio State next week, but following the start to the second half and an injury to star QB Drew Allar, that game is an afterthought.

    What Happened to Drew Allar?

Though not clearly shown, it was clear when the Nittany Lions emerged from the halftime break that something was wrong with Allar. Cautious fans quickly pointed out a knee brace that Allar had put on his left knee, but few had even known he was hurt.

The ESPN broadcast didn’t make any mention of it during the first half, only showed this clip of him warming up with the team before speaking with head coach James Franklin and ultimately exiting the field.

Allar was diagnosed with a left knee injury and it was said it happened ‘late in the first half,’ per the broadcast. That is all the details that have emerged.

Sophomore QB Beau Pribula replaced Allar at the start of the third quarter and the Nittany Lions were held scoreless on offense during that frame. Pribula has completed 7-of-10 passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns against one interception so far in 2024.

College Football Network will be following Allar’s status the rest of the way against Wisconsin as well as in the lead-up to the Ohio State game in Week 10.
