It’s been nearly 100 years since the Longhorns and Commodores last faced off. Clark Lea’s team comes into this Week 9 matchup riding high with a winning SEC record, and bowl eligibility in their grasp with a victory in Week 9. After beating the Virginia Tech Hokies in Week 1, and playing the Missouri Tigers close in Week 4, Vanderbilt shocked the football world by rolling the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 6. The number one team in the country slipped to fifth in the AP Poll after the loss to the Georgia Bulldogs, and another defeat down the stretch of the season could put an end to College Football Playoff hopes that seemed like a formality just seven days ago. The College Football Network Football Playoff Meter gives the Longhorns an 81.1% chance of being the latest team to succumb to Vandy.
Calling the game for Texas on the radio this weekend will be Craig Way, Roger Wallace, and Will Matthews. Way is in his 23rd season as the play-by-play announcer for the Longhorns and mixes his commitments to the Longhorns with hosting “High School Scoreboard Live.” Wallace provides analysis alongside him, while Matthews provides sideline reporting on game day.
