EA Sports College Football 25 Is “Awesome For College Football” Says Southern Miss HC Will Hall

Speaking candidly about playing with his son, Southern Miss HC Will Hall remarked how awesome EA Sports College Football 25 is for the sport.

Will Hall is simply one of us. During Sun Belt Media Days, the Southern Miss head coach had some fond memories come to life around the latest iteration of EA Sports College Football 25. Memories that are near and dear to so many.

    “We Lost A Generation”

During EA Sports’ 11-year hiatus from NCAA/CFB games, the sport of college football had no video game offering. That 11-year gap, though not that long on the surface, is an entire generation of video game players who may start playing in their single-digit years and continue through college.

“I think it’s awesome for college football,” Hall said about the game.

Hall, who took over at Southern Miss in 2021, spoke to the generational gap the game lost while speaking with reporters at Sun Belt Media Days.

“I think we lost a generation,” Hall said when speaking about how long it’s been since the game has been around. “I can remember being able to name every starter for every team in college because of the game. I can remember sending in my memory cards, getting the names put on ’em, and bringing them back.”

The memory card line hits home for those who used to have to physically mail their memory cards away in the lead-up to the game, in hopes they received their memory card back with a new file full of names loaded on it.

EDITOR’S NOTE: It’s me, Cam. Correct me if I am wrong — the name of the person we sent our memory cards out to was DT Lindner, right? (Seriously, let me know if I’m right — email me.)

This generation of college football video game players doesn’t have to bother with mailing in memory cards, but they did have to weather a sizeable gap in their lives without a college football game.

And as Hall mentioned, the plethora of options in this game brings back memories for the older generation, while hooking the new generation.

“When my youngest got it, I jumped in there with him, showed him how to create a dynasty, how to recruit the right way, and all that,” Hall said. “I jumped in there and played a game or two with him.”

Maybe Hall’s youngest will now be able to name every starter on every team across the country, just like his dad did.

    And that’s awesome.
