It’s no secret that Colorado’s Deion Sanders and SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum are polarizing figures in college football. So, it shouldn’t be surprising that the latter has some pretty strong opinions on the former.
Finebaum made those public in an interview with ESPN’s “First Take,” saying that the Buffaloes are “irrelevant in the big picture of college football.”

Deion Sanders made waves after coming to Boulder, Colorado, last season for the way he handled the transfer portal and roster overhaul upon assuming the head coach role.
Things didn’t go so well for the Buffaloes during the season though, as Colorado limped to a 4-8 record despite starting the year with three straight non-conference wins.
SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum had some thoughts on where Colorado and its larger-than-life coach stand in the current picture of college football Monday.
“They’re not going to the playoff this year,” Finebaum said. “In fact, I’m not sure Deion Sanders is ever going to the playoffs because I don’t think he has the patience to stay at Colorado long enough.”
Even though Finebaum doesn’t think the team is on its way to playoff contention, it doesn’t mean he hates Sanders.
“Deion Sanders is the best salesman I’ve ever seen,” Finebaum said. “I personally love the guy and for what he stands for.”
However, he’s not buying everything Sanders is selling.
“The program looking out has a ridiculously inflated view of itself,” Finebaum said, going on to call the Buffaloes “an easy win” and “not everybody’s Super Bowl,” referring to comments Shedeur Sanders made last week.
“I know the media loves this story,” Finebaum continued. “We fall all over ourselves, but Colorado isn’t important in college football. Deion Sanders is … but Colorado is nothing.”
Finebaum probably isn’t alone in thinking Sanders carries more weight than Colorado, but his comments are certainly among the strongest against the Buffaloes.
