Florida State RB Treshaun Ward entered the NCAA transfer portal in what could only be described as a blockbuster move in early January. Ward exploded onto the scene in 2022 but will take his talents elsewhere in 2023.
Treshaun Ward Enters Transfer Portal
Ward exploded onto the scene right out of the gates, rushing for 127 yards on just 14 carries and two touchdowns to open the season for Florida State. The Seminoles running back eclipsed 100 yards in two of his first three games and finished the 2022 season on a high note with 81 yards and two touchdowns against Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl.
In total, Ward ran for 628 yards on 95 carries and seven scores in 2022.
With the expanding role for Trey Benson and the success of Lawrance Toafili in the Seminoles backfield, however, Ward had a stretch of the season where he ran the ball just 18 times across four games and was injured for most of October.

Still, Ward is an incredibly gifted running back who was in an incredibly talented running back room that just had too many mouths to feed. He’s an energetic runner with a dramatic speed to his game.
When he hits the hole, there are few in the nation who are going to be able to catch Ward in the open field. He also has an elusiveness to his game and a second gear that he’s not afraid to use.
A dual-threat option out of the backfield, Ward wasn’t quite utilized enough in the passing game this season compared to 2021. Still, over the past two years, he hauled in 27 receptions for 204 yards and a score.
In four seasons with the Seminoles, the former walk-on running back won the hearts of the FSU faithful and ran for 1,241 career rushing yards and 12 career rushing touchdowns.
In an expanded role, the sky may be the limit for Ward if he lands in the right spot.
