Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has issued a bold open challenge to tennis players after discovering his latest athletic passion.
In a recent video on Well off Media YouTube channel, Sanders did not shy away from making it evident that he is serious about his newfound love for tennis.
After completing what he described as an exhausting workout session, Sanders laid down specific parameters for his challenge. He’s looking for opponents aged 50 and up with no professional tennis experience.
“If you played in a real match before, I’m not playing,” said Sanders. (11:00)
Sanders then confidently declared to potential opponents:
“The rest of y’all, I want you.” (11:05)
The Colorado head coach wants to keep things fair, only intending to play against fellow amateur tennis players.

Deion Sanders Embraces Competition in Every Arena
Deion Sanders might have looked tired after tennis and admitted his legs were shot and his back hurt. But when it came to his competitive spirit, he didn’t lose any fire. Sanders was bringing the same intensity and passion that enabled him to excel at pro baseball and football.
In the aforementioned video, Sanders also acknowledged the grueling nature of tennis, calling it a ‘great workout.’
“We go like 12 balls apiece, and we aren’t playing. This was a workout; my legs are gone, and my back is hurting.” (10:35)
Deion Sanders’ tennis activities have provided a welcome distraction during the offseason as Colorado prepares for the upcoming football season. With his sons Shedeur and Shilo now in the NFL, Sanders has more time to explore personal interests.
The journey in tennis for Deion Sanders is another story in the career of one of the greatest athletes of all time. The NFL and MLB legend is willing to challenge recreational players openly, further highlighting his competitive nature.
The challenge is part of Sanders’ newfound love for tennis. He’s been actively posting about his journey in tennis on social media, posting workout sessions and games with friends and family members. His openness to tackling new challenges isn’t unheard of. Recently, he and his daughter Shelomi also participated in a 1.3-mile run.
The tennis journey of the Colorado head coach has created great entertainment for fans while proving that athletic greatness tends to cover more than one sport.
Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes are slated to start their new season on Aug. 29, 2025, with a home game against Georgia Tech.
