Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, is known for being vocal on and off the football field. However, he has also stayed involved in the community, especially since coming to Colorado two years ago. However, Colorado is not the only place he spends time in. Sanders, who is worth $60 million, as per Celebrity Net Worth, also visits Texas often.
On Thursday morning, Coach Prime posted a series of photos on Instagram with the staff from one of his favorite restaurants in Canton, Texas, DownHome Cafe. In the caption of the post, Sanders spoke with excitement about taking his eldest son, Deion Sanders Jr, there.
“Ain’t no way I can miss one of my favorite restaurants, DownHome Cafe!” Deion Sanders wrote. “The food is great the service is better and if u want Country Cooking this is it. The Desserts are so darn good. Can’t wait to Take Deion Sanders Jr. to 1st Monday.”

Deion Sanders has been in Texas more than normal because of some of his recent health issues. In early June, Sanders traveled to Texas to deal with an unspecified health issue. As a result of these unexpected issues, Sanders was forced to miss the Buffaloes’ annual summer football camps. Additionally, he canceled his speaking engagement at the Sickle Cell Disease Research and Educational Symposium on June 8.
Sanders has dealt with many health issues in recent years. Notably, he had two toes in his left foot amputated in 2022 because of blood clot issues. In 2023, he had surgery on both of his legs to relieve new clots that had developed. Coach Prime has not stated whether his recent health issues are related to his previous blood clots.
Coach Prime Heads Into His First Season with Colorado Without His Sons
Deion Sanders Jr. will still be in Colorado with Coach Prime next season, doing social media for the team. However, Deion Sanders will no longer have any of his sons on the team. Both quarterback Shedeur Sanders and safety Shilo Sanders are starting their NFL careers. Shedeur was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft and Shilo was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent.
As a result of their departure, along with superstar Travis Hunter, it will be challenging for Coach Prime to keep Colorado among the Big 12’s elite. However, he has proven in recent years that fans should not doubt his abilities.
