‘Not Worth It’, ‘Massive W’: Hoops Fans React As EA Sports Announces College Basketball Video Game

EA Sports has officially announced that their college basketball video game is returning  and promising that it will “Bring the madness.” No official title has been announced yet, nor have they announced a release date. They also did not reveal any gameplay video and just teased that there will be a new college basketball game coming soon.

Despite the lack of details, this still has a lot of fans talking. There were fans who were certainly hyped up, while there were also those who were not as excited for another EA college sports game.

“Not worth it,” one X user said.

“massive W,” one fan who liked the idea replied.

“While this is exciting, I don’t understand how we get a NCAA CBB game before I get the ability to schedule a 13th game if I play Hawaii on the road.” added another fan.

Meanwhile, others suggested that the game should be like Wii Sports as a collection of different sports instead of separate $70 games, while others were just happy for the return.

“Can we just make the NCAA like Wii sports. Not trying to pay $70 for every sport.” noted one fan.

“This better be ready this year so I can start dropping 40+ a game w Darryn Peterson @EA you’ve done well!” another commenter said.

“Hopefully this year. Would suck to wait an entire year and a half after this announcement,” replied another fan.

This is the first time that EA Sports is making a college basketball game since 2009. This announcement came after all the hype for College Football 2026, which came after the success of the 2025 edition. These games continued after EA Sports stopped making their college football series in 2013 due to NIL issues.

College Basketball Fans May Not Get New EA Sports CBB Game This Season

Despite the fact that a lot of college basketball fans are very much excited for this new EA Sports game, gaming insider Matt Brown says that fans should not expect it anytime soon, noting that it would probably be released for the 2028-2029 season, not the 2025-2026 season.

The reason for the game’s return was because of the success of “College Football 25”, which was the second best-selling game in the country by the end of 2024. The 2026 edition of the game is also coming in with a lot of hype and is expected to do as well or even better than 2025.
