Alabama Crimson Tide’s projected QB1, Ty Simpson, is expected to be one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 college football season, along with players like Arch Manning, LaNorris Sellers, Cade Klubnik, and Carson Beck.
LSU Tigers QB Garrett Nussmeier, the son of New Orleans Saints’ offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier, is also among the hyped up players for the upcoming season.
During the 2025 Manning Passing Academy event, all the top quarterbacks got to spend some time together. During one of the press conferences, Simpson was asked about his opinion on Nussmeier. He responded by saying that the LSU QB is extremely tough and has always been a high-energy player, which is what he enjoys about him.
“What’s to not like about Garrett Nussmeier’s game, you know,” Ty Simpson said. “He’s very tough. He stays in the pocket. He’s got a very fluid throwing motion. He’s very accurate. I’ve known Nuss for a long time. He’s always been a high-energy guy no matter where he’s been. So, that’s what I really enjoy about Nuss.”
“I take that back to Alabama just being who I am and being that high-energy guy. Just understanding the love of football. Nuss’ dad is the offensive coordinator at New Orleans. My dad is the head football coach and offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee-Martin. So, we have a lot of similarities, we’ve waited our turn. So, Nuss is a great guy and I’m looking forward to playing him this year,” he added.
Nick Saban Expresses Confidence in Alabama QB Ty Simpson
After Jalen Milroe led the Crimson Tide for two years, it is time for Kalen DeBoer to choose a new QB for the program between Ty Simpson, Keelon Russell, and Mack Brown.
It is widely projected that Simpson will take the starting position in 2025. Talking about him during “Nick’s Kids” golf tournament in Birmingham in May, Saban, who recruited the former five-star QB, said:
“Ty was an outstanding high school player, no doubt. He’s a fine young man. I think his example is a true example of development. He matured and developed for [three] years, and now he’s going to get the opportunity, and I think his experiences are really going to help him be successful. We’re rooting for him, that’s for sure, and I have every confidence that he’ll do a great job.”
Alabama will kick off the 2025 college football season against the Florida State Seminoles on August 30.
