‘Would Be In Big Trouble’ – Analyst Reveals What Saved LSU From Doomsday in Death Valley Ahead of 2025

Josh Pate opened up about expectations for college football teams ahead of the 2025 season. The analyst sat down for an episode of “Josh Pate Cut” on Friday to discuss some of the nation’s top teams.

Pate kicked off his video by looking at LSU Tigers’ upcoming season. The Tigers went 9-4 in the 2024 regular season and will kick off this year’s campaign by visiting Clemson on August 30. Pate believes LSU could be in for a more promising season this year.

”If I’m betting money on this, and full disclosure, I have a little bit with LSU, I’m gonna be a little bit better,” Pate said. “It’s all because of the No. 1 portal class. I am a big believer that if you erase that portal class or you just shave it down a bit, this team would be in big trouble.”

Pate pointed out what fans will be focused on for the Tigers this season.

”Everyone’s going to look at [Garrett] Nussmeier, rightfully so, and everyone’s going to zoom in on the continuity at quarterback in a world and in a year where there’s not a lot of that outside of Baton Rouge,” Pate said.

There are high expectations for the Tigers this season with the return of veteran quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and the addition of the top portal class in the country.

    LSU defensive target postpones commitment

LSU was hoping to hear whether four-star defensive lineman Emanuel Ruffin would be joining them by July 4, but it seems that will no longer be the case. Sports Illustrated announced on Friday that Ruffin has postponed his commitment date.

Ruffin, an Alabama native and top-20 ranked defensive lineman, selected LSU and Ohio State as his finalists. However, he has since reopened his recruitment and pushed back his commitment date. Ruffin wrote on X:

“First off I want to thank God for putting me in this position. Also, I want to thank everyone who been apart of my recruitment. However after weighing my options I decided I WILL NOT be committing on July 4.

“I understand this is a process and I want to make sure I make the best decision for me and my future. Stay tuned for updates. MY RECRUITMENT IS 100% OPEN. God Bless”

Ruffin has made multiple visits to LSU, including a recent multi-day stay. The Tigers will look to add him to their top-ranked class.
