Florida quarterback DJ Lagway gets most of the attention in the Lagway family. After bursting onto the scene because of QB injuries on the Gators last season, Lagway is viewed as one of the best young QBs in college football. However, he is not the only member of his family who is projected to succeed at the college level.
DJ’s brother, Jamal Lagway, will start his NCAA career as part of the class of 2028. As a result, it is a little early for most college teams to start seriously looking at him. Despite that, a report came out on Thursday, indicating that Jamal Lagway received his first college offer from Sacramento State. This was reported by the TXFB Insider Instagram account.
“CO’28 ATH Jamal Lagway Is an Elite Player All Around. With Lagway Being The Younger Brother Of The 2023 Gatorade National POTY DJ Lagway. Willis WildKats Have Another Elite Lagway In Their Hands!” the report read.
After this news came out, DJ Lagway’s sister reposted it to her Instagram story. She could not contain her excitement, dropping a five-word reaction.
“So proud of you omg!!!” she wrote.

DJ Lagway’s Brother Will Not Start His College Career Until 2028
While there is likely a lot of excitement in the Lagway family around Jamal Lagway receiving his first college offer, it will be a while until he puts on a college uniform. Jamal only just finished his freshman year of high school. As a result, he is still three full years away from making his final recruitment decision.
Lagway is still so young that he has not been given a star rating by On3. However, he is big for his age, at 5-foot-11, meaning he has a good chance of growing into the frame of a star college football player.
With Jamal Lagway being three years away from college, DJ Lagway will not have the opportunity to overlap with his brother in the NCAA. DJ just finished his first year in the NCAA, so by the time Jamal starts college, DJ will be without eligibility. The only way they would be able to play together would be if DJ redshirts a season, and that will not happen unless he suffers a season-ending injury.
Fans are already excited to see what he can become in the NFL.
