‘Closer to 10 to 12’ – Analyst Hints at Historic Combine and NFL Draft 2026 for Texas A&M

Analyst Billy Liucci, during a recent appearance on the Crain & Company show, suggested that Texas A&M football stands at the dawn of a potentially transformative moment. Liucci, a respected voice in Aggie circles and co-owner of TexAgs, painted an optimistic picture of the program’s future, particularly for the 2026 NFL Combine and Draft.

The TexAgs co-owner projected a dramatic surge in Combine invites for the Aggies, stating, “Last year the Aggies had three players invited to the NFL Combine… I think this year that number, I’d put it over under something closer to, you know, 10 to 12.”

He also projected a strong showing in the 2026 NFL Draft, stating, “In terms of draft picks, I think there’s about eight guys I absolutely will see get drafted, maybe you could threaten double digits.”

Projected Surge in NFL Combine Invites Elevates Texas A&M’s Talent Profile

His forecasts that 10 to 12 Texas A&M players will earn invitations to the 2026 NFL Combine, highlighting how the roster draws national attention. Historically, top-tier programs like Alabama, LSU, and Ohio State routinely send large contingents to the combine, which in most cases correlate with their success on the field and in recruiting.

Texas A&M’s potential to join this tier would mark a significant step forward. A jump to 10 or 12 invites would showcase individual stars and reflect the program’s overall depth, a point he emphasized when he said, “You’re going to have NFL guys at most positions.” This depth, built through recruiting and development, positions the Aggies to make noise on a national stage.

Several players stand out as likely candidates to headline this class. Chase Bisontis, a guard on the offensive line, has already drawn early attention for his power and agility, which translate well to the next level. Le’Veon Moss, a running back, Trey Zuhn, an offensive tackle, and Albert Regis, a defensive tackle. These athletes, among others, represent the core of Texas A&M’s rising talent pool.

The possibility of eight or more Texas A&M players hearing their names called in the 2026 NFL Draft amplifies Liucci’s optimism. This projection, which he suggested could “threaten double digits,” points to a roster rich with NFL-caliber athletes. Such a haul would rival some of the program’s best draft classes and underscore the effective player development under Mike Elko’s leadership.

Key prospects already emerge as potential draft standouts. Marcel Reed, the Aggies’ quarterback, holds a pivotal role. His progression from his first to second year as a starter, as Liucci noted, could determine both the Aggies’ ceiling and his draft stock. A strong 2025 season with precise passing and smart decision-making could vault him into early-round consideration.

A wide receiver, KC Concepcion, has already displayed crisp routes and reliable hands that NFL teams prize. Bisontis and Moss, mentioned above, also figure prominently, their skills aligning with professional demands on the offensive side.

Defensively, Regis stands out, but he’s not alone. Despite losing key pieces, the defensive line remains a strength with emerging talents like Tyler Onyedim adding depth. Liucci’s point about experience resonates here: “It’s going to be a very cfootball team.” This veteran presence and young contributors create a balanced unit, which, in a way, can produce multiple draft picks as he predicted.

As seen before in recent years, talent alone doesn’t guarantee success, which raises a critical question about playmakers, citing past Aggie stars like Myles Garrett and Christian Kirk who elevated teams beyond the 8-4 plateau.

For Texas A&M to reach 10-2 or higher, players like Concepcion or Moss must emerge as game-changers, one capable of turning tight contests in the Aggies’ favor. The coaching staff’s ability to harness this potential will be a decisive factor, both for on-field results and for showcasing these athletes to NFL scouts.
