Jason Whitlock Harshly Puts Blame on Deion Sanders for Shedeur’s Second Speeding Ticket in 2 Weeks Post Cleveland Move

Deion Sanders and his son, Shedeur, are no strangers to the spotlight; the father-son duo has been involved in multiple controversies over the years. Sports columnist Jason Whitlock recently criticized Deion for putting his son in the limelight, arguing that it attracts controversy.

Earlier this year, the Sanders clan experienced massive emotional turmoil as Shedeur had to sit through five rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft despite being projected as a first-round, top-10 pick.

Shedeur was eventually drafted by the Cleveland Browns as the 144th overall pick. The dramatic slide became the talk of the town, with fans and analysts speculating on the potential reasons behind the drop. The controversy even had an impact on Coach Prime’s health, forcing him to miss various Colorado practice sessions.

With his impressive performances during the rookie minicamp in Cleveland, Shedeur has now moved on to the next part of his career.

Meanwhile, the ex-Colorado quarterback has been fined for speeding twice in the last two weeks. The news sparked outrage about Shedeur’s reckless behavior. Weighing in on the matter, Whitlock has shared his thoughts on his YouTube channel:

“Here’s what I will say. When you are Deion and you turn your son into clickbait, when you film everything through Well Off Media and turn your son and your whole name into a brand to be exploited on social media, this is what goes along with it. You make the same mistakes other young people make, but it becomes a big deal because there’s social media traction behind it,” Whitlock said on the ‘Fearless’ podcast.

Johnny Manziel Weighs In on Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Draft Slide

Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Draft slide shocked the majority of the fans, former players, and analysts.

While some thought Shedeur slid out of the first four rounds due to his poor attitude, analyst Stephen A. Smith opined that it may have been because of Coach Prime’s blunt statements about not wanting to send Shedeur to certain teams.

Speaking on the “Glory Daze” podcast (via ESPN Cleveland’s X handle), Johnny Manziel recently said:

“I think, to be honest, he handled it as good as you possibly can. It’s not easy to sit there early in the draft process—him and Deion [Sanders] sitting there like, ‘We’re gonna be off the board in the first five picks’—and you sit there for five rounds?”

“That’s a highly anxious spot to be in,” Manziel continued. “Even for me, sitting and just waiting until the end of the first round was like…I don’t think I would’ve been able to handle it the way he did.”

Manziel added that Shedeur works hard and that he’ll be successful in Cleveland.

“I think he’ll do well. I really do. I think the kid works really hard, and I think he loves the game of ball. And when it comes down to it, if you have a guy like that, that loves the game—I think he’ll be successful,” he added.
