‘No One Likes Being A One-Hit Wonder’ – Analyst Breaks Down Why Curt Cignetti’s Indiana Can Be A Top Dark Horse in 2025

Adam Breneman has high hopes for Indiana next season. In an Instagram video posted on Thursday, the college football analyst explained why the Hoosiers will be able to find lasting success.

Indiana is coming off its best season in program history. The team finished the 2024 campaign with an 11-2 record, making its first appearance in the College Football Playoffs. This was a significant improvement from the year prior, when the Hoosiers finished with a 3-9 record.

Breneman believes in Indiana’s ability to build on this momentum, as he detailed the importance of the Hoosiers making it happen in his Instagram video.

”Curt Cignetti and Indiana need a conference title more than anybody else in college football,” Breneman said. “Indiana shocked everybody last year, making their first ever college football playoff and setting a record for 11 wins in the season, but Indiana athletic director Scott Dolson said himself, ‘We’re paranoid. We don’t want to be a one-hit wonder.’ No one likes being a one-hit wonder.”

Despite pointing out a possible obstacle, Brenemen backed the Hoosiers for a successful 2025 season.

”It’s easy to see a strong 2025 campaign for the Hoosiers, even if their schedule is more difficult,” Brenemen said.

He also pointed to the signing of quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who is joining Indiana after spending the last two years with the California Golden Bears. Mendoza threw for over 3,000 yards and 16 touchdowns last season.

Brenemen further praised third-team All-Big Ten receiver Elijah Sarratt and Indiana’s defense, which was ranked No. 2 in the country last year.

However, the analyst opined that the biggest difference for the Hoosiers next season will be the addition of Notre Dame’s Pat Coogan, Colorado’s Kahlil Benson, and Ohio State’s Zen Michalski.

Highlighting what Indiana would bring to next season, Brenemen said the team can continue to find success on the football field.

Indiana season ticket sales reach new heights

After the Hoosiers’ historical 2024 season,  Indiana football tickets are in high demand. Michael Niziolek of The Herald-Times highlighted the increased ticket sales in an article posted on Thursday.

According to Niziolek, Indiana’s season-ticket sales for the upcoming football season are up 50% from last year as fans prepare for the Hoosiers’ seven home games, including four Big Ten matchups.

During the Hoosiers’ 2024 campaign, Indiana fans set a single-season attendance record that included four straight sellouts. Indiana athletic director Scott Dolson is confident fans will show up in the same way this year.

“We will definitely have sellouts,” Dolson said. “I don’t know if we will have sellouts for every game. I think we will be close, maybe closer than we’ve ever been in our history. There’s no question that Hoosier Nation has responded just how we hoped they would.”

The Hoosiers are aiming to build on their historic season, and fans are up for the ride.
