    Michigan State’s Jase Richardson Snubbed From Green Room Despite NBA Pedigree

    The 24 draftees who were invited to the NBA draft green room have been revealed, and there is one notable snub: Jase Richardson. This is despite the Michigan State guard being the son of former NBA Slam Dunk champion Jason Richardson. Those invited to the green room will have the chance to see where their NBA careers will begin, and the elder Richardson son will not be getting that chance.

    According to Draft Express’ Jonathan Givony, the 24 players invited to the green room include potential No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg and potential No. 2 pick Dylan Harper, as well as other draft prospects who have the potential to be picked high in the draft, such as Ace Bailey and VJ Edgecomb.

    This was unexpected, as several mock drafts have shown that the Michigan State guard being drafted around the mid to high teens. The latest ESPN mock draft has him picked as the No. 16 overall by the Memphis Grizzlies, which received the pick from the Orlando Magic in a trade.

    During his freshman season at Michigan State, Jase Richardson led the Spartans all the way to the Elite Eight. He averaged 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists for the Spartans. This includes a 20-point performance against Ole Miss during the Sweet 16 stage of the NCAA national tournament.

    NBA Draft Insider Says Memphis Grizzlies a Good Fit For Jase Richardson

    As for the team that is likely to draft Jase Richardson next week, the Memphis Grizzlies have been showing a lot of interest in the shooting guard so far. NBA draft insider Jonathan Givony, who was the one who revealed who the 24 green room invitees were, agrees with this and even explains why the son of Jason Richardson would be a good pick for the Grizzlies.

    “The Grizzlies are exactly the type of team that could be interested in an ultra-efficient, productive young prospect such as Richardson, who rates highly in draft models that analytics-savvy teams like Memphis often pay attention to.” Jonathan Givony said.

    Givony added that Richardson could play off the star power of a teammate like Ja Morant at Memphis, and that he may inherit more significant roles for the team in the future.
