Former TCU Horned Frogs guard Hailey Van Lith is still giving amounts of support towards her former program. This time, it’s in the form of incoming fifth-year senior Maddie Scherr, as she is set to play out her first year with coach Mark Campbell’s squad in the 2025-26 season after sitting out all of the 2024-25 campaign with a back injury.
In a video posted by @tcuwbb on Instagram on Wednesday, June 18, Scherr is seen lifting weights in one of the team’s workouts. She then exclaims several cries such as “I’m back!” and “You see me” as she looks at the camera. The upload is then captioned with “Word on the street” as Van Lith joins several members of the Horned Frogs faithful that is showing love to the returning Scherr by dropping a three-word comment.
“She misses me @maddiescherr,” van lith commented before scherr replied saying, “Maybe a little.”

Van Lith is uncorking her first season in the WNBA with the Chicago Sky. Her and coach Tyler Mash’s team have amassed a 3-8 record thus far that puts them in the No. 11 seed early in the season standings. Van Lith and Co. are coming off a home loss, 79-72, against the Washington Mystics on Tuesday, June 17, wherein the former TCU star posted five points, two rebounds and an assist in 26 minutes played.
Van Lith was drafted into the WNBA with the 11th overall pick back in April after she led the Horned Frogs to the program’s most successful season yet. Along with Scherr, TCU won their first-ever Big 12 conference regular season championship and conference tournament title in the 2024-25 campaign. They then went all the way to the Elite Eight of the 2025 national tournament, the deepest the team has ever gone in March Madness.
Their run was put to a halt at the hands of the Texas Longhorns through an 11-point loss, 58-47. In that game, Van Lith dropped 17 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steal in 40 minutes logged as Scherr looked on from the sidelines.
Maddie Scherr is set to return in the 2025-26 college basketball season
Maddie Scherr committed to transfer to the TCU Horned Frogs back in April of 2024. But, per her Instagram account, Scherr unfortunately dealt with a back injury she suffered in December of the same year that made her sit out for the whole 2024-25 season. After spending two years with the Oregon Ducks and then the next two with the Kentucky Wildcats as a steady guard, Scherr is set to make her TCU debut later this year.
