‘Pops Buggin’: CFB Fans Left in Shock As South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers Reportedly Turns Down $8M Offer on Dad’s Orders

South Carolina Gamecocks quarterback LaNorris Sellers is projected to be one of the top QBs in the nation next season. After a stellar freshman season where he completed 196 of 299 passing attempts for 2534 yards and 18 TDs, Sellers looks poised to take another step forward.

However, the Gamecocks were not the only team that was looking at his freshman season excitedly. According to a report from The Athletic, Sellers turned down an $8 million NIL offer to transfer. Sellers’ father reportedly talked him out of transferring, telling him:

    “You’re 19. You don’t need $8 million.”

CFB Analyst Josh Pate Has LaNorris Sellers As the No. 3-Ranked SEC QB Next Season

Heading into the 2025 college football season, there is a lot of excitement around what LaNorris Sellers can do as a sophomore. After a stellar freshman season, he is expected to take another jump forward.

In early June, CFB analyst Josh Pate released his list of the Top 10 SEC QBs heading into next season. He had South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers as the No. 3-ranked QB in the SEC. He only had him behind Florida’s DJ Lagway and Texas’ Arch Manning. With a strong season, Sellers has the option to declare for the 2026 NFL draft as a top prospect.
