Texas Insider Drops Shocking List of 5 Heisman Hopefuls He’s Not Betting On

In 2024, Travis Hunter was the man who did it all. One of the reasons for this was that he had walked away with the Heisman Trophy. That carried him straight to the NFL Draft, where he was No. 2 overall to the Jaguars.

But now, with Hunter off to the pros and Ashton Jeanty left applauding from second place, the Heisman race resets. And as always, it brings bold takes and some wild predictions. One such take has come from a Texas Insider who is not buying into the hype of some big names.

CFB Insider CJ Vogel Reveals 5 Heisman Contenders He’s Surprisingly Not Sold On

CJ Vogel has decided to stir the Heisman pot. The College Football Network analyst recently dropped a blunt list on X, naming five high-profile players he’s putting zero Heisman stock in. “Guys, I will be buying zero Heisman stock of: PSU QB Drew Allar, ASU QB Sam Leavitt, Oregon QB Dante Moore, UM QB Carson Beck, ND RB Jeremiyah Love,” wrote Vogel. And no doubt, that has the football fandom shook.

What is the reason for this bold take from Vogel? Let’s take a look at each player to understand this.

    1. Drew Allar | The Stat Sheet Man With a Big ‘But’

Allar made big numbers last season. He had better accuracy and more confidence. However, he still hasn’t had the moment. The kind of signature, game-changing play that sticks in voters’ minds.

And Vogel might just be wondering if he ever will. With the expectations and pressure higher than ever, Allar may be walking into a trap, and Vogel isn’t gambling on Penn State’s guy becoming a December darling.

    2. Sam Leavitt | A Breakout Star Still Finding His Footing

Leavitt undoubtedly carried Arizona State back from the dead in 2024 with a Big 12 shocker. While he has the talent, Vogel is not betting on his long game. Of course, Leavitt is a dual-threat QB with a great story. But Heisman is not for everybody.

This is especially true when the player is still building his resume and sharing national attention with bigger names like Arch Manning and D.J. Lagway. The schedule might be okay, but the consistency is not there just yet.

    3. Dante Moore | Learning Curve or Launchpad in the making?

Moore transferred from UCLA, sat behind Dillon Gabriel, and now enters 2025 with big expectations. His upside is massive. However, there is also the fact that Moore has not won the starting job outright. Vogel might be seeing what the football world does.

There are too many unanswered questions with Moore. Will he start? Can he command Will Stein’s offense? Can he make enough noise early in the season to matter in December? For now, Vogel is not buying blank answers.

    4. Carson Beck | Favourite With the Flimsy Foothold

Beck’s odds are something to look at. Some books even have him in the top three in the Heisman race. But Vogel’s playing devil’s advocate. And that is perhaps because there are too many moving parts.

There is a new system and transfer quarterbacks who might reduce his chances. Plus, Heisman hype rarely survives if the team is not winning. Miami is stuck in coaching issues, and the results might be affected.

    5. Jeremiyah Love | Might Be Too Crowded to Climb

Love is an explosive player. And yes, Notre Dame’s line is elite. However, Vogel might be looking at the schedule. It has Boston College, Navy, Pitt, Syracuse, and Stanford. No Heisman moment is coming from those.

And while Love is dangerous, he’s also sharing touches in a loaded backfield. Jeanty had 2,700+ yards last year. Love had 1,362. The numbers speak for themselves. And brand alone won’t win him a Heisman.
