Texas Lands 4-Star Defensive Tackle Dylan Berymon

Steve Sarkisian saw his latest win on the recruiting trail by getting a verbal commitment from Dylan Berymon, who is a consensus four-star recruit in the 2026 recruiting class.

The Louisiana native is an elite prospect as 247Sports has him rated as the 22nd best defensive lineman and a top-200 player in the country.

The “On Texas Football” podcast broke down what this commitment means for the Longhorns in their most recent episode, with host Gerry Hamilton saying, “He’s built like a swollen oak barrel.”

He’s not wrong, as Berymon stands at 6’2 “and weighs 315 pounds at only 16 years old. Hamilton went on to say, “He’s just got that natural strength to him, he’s kind of got the big features, big elbow bones, just a big guy,” later adding, “I think he’s close to a 600-pound squatter.”

Berymon projects to be a zero technique, or a nose tackle, meaning that he will often be lined up directly over the center. It makes sense for someone of his size and strength, and he’ll be next up in a recent line of elite Texas defensive tackles.

The Longhorns have been fantastic at developing players like Berymon since Sarkisian arrived in Austin. In the past two years, Texas has sent both T’Vondre Seat and Alfred Collins to the NFL, with both of them playing nose tackle and being picked in round two.

With that kind of proof, it’s clear why Berymon chose the Longhorns. Other schools were making the recruitment competitive, but Texas was able to get him on campus this weekend for an official visit, which, for right now, wrapped up his recruitment.

It’s worth noting that Berymon still will take official visits to USC and Texas A&M in the coming weeks, but for the time being, the young defensive tackle is a Longhorn.

Texas has a lot of depth on its defensive line, so Berymon probably won’t see the field until his sophomore season, but he should be able to make a name for himself once he arrives in Austin.

Regardless of the future, this is a big time commitment for the Longhorns as Berymon launches their 2026 class into the top 25.
