‘Holy Downgrade’ — Fans Erupt as 5’9″ Wyoming CB Commits to Deion Sanders’ Colorado Football

The Colorado Buffaloes are continuing to attract plenty of talent with Deion Sanders as head coach. Their most recent addition comes in the form of a smaller corner, and despite the eruption from fans on social media, he appears to be a very solid player on the boundary.

College Football Fans React to Colorado Acquiring Smaller Cornerback Tyrecus Davis

According to college football insider Hayes Fawcett (via On3 Sports), the Buffaloes were able to get a recent commitment from Wyoming Transfer Tyrecus Davis.

Now, Davis stands at just 5’9″, and certain fans on social media are making a big deal about that and the overall fact that he chose Colorado.

This is a prime example of fans either not loving the player or simply not loving what Deion Sanders has built in Boulder.

Before his stint at Colorado even begins, some fans are already saying that it is not going to go well.

The beauty of college football is that the fans can have their opinions and say whatever they want to say, but it really doesn’t matter in the end.

Certain Ohio State fans wanted head coach Ryan Day to be fired after losing to Michigan at the end of the regular season last year. Of course, Day went on to quiet the doubters and guide the Buckeyes to their first national title in over a decade.

In both Colorado’s and Davis’s case, they are both going to have to tune out the noise and focus on football.

Davis was 1 of the Transfer Portal’s Most Talented Defensive Players

While some fans are going to focus on the size of Davis, they should focus on the numbers he recorded at Wyoming.

The Texas native is coming off an impressive season with the Cowboys in which he recorded 42 total tackles (career-high), 36 solo tackles (career-high), eight pass deflections (career-high), a forced fumble, and an interception.

Again, while he stands at just 5’9″ and weighs 185 pounds, he more than plays above his true size.

With the loss of veteran cornerback Shilo Sanders, who is now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Deion Sanders is going to have to identify another standout cornerback whom he can trust.

With this addition, perhaps Davis can be that player moving forward, especially if he shows out on the defensive side at summer practices. He will look to help the Buffaloes take the next step up this upcoming season after winning nine games a year ago.
