For Kennesaw State, it’s a massive opportunity to make a first impression on the national stage. Expect the Demon Deacons to throw everything at the Owls, but if KSU’s defense can hold steady early, there’s room to build confidence in this primetime Friday night debut.
Just a week later, things don’t get any easier. On Sept. 6, Kennesaw State travels to face Indiana, another Power Five opponent with size and speed.
The Hoosiers have been inconsistent in recent years, which could mean upset potential if the Owls’ offense can find a rhythm. Expect dual-threat quarterback play and tricky schemes from KSU’s coaching staff, looking to keep IU guessing for four quarters.
After those road tests, the Owls finally return to Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Sept. 13 to face Merrimack, an FCS squad that presents a more manageable challenge.
This is the “reset” game—a chance for KSU to refocus, fix errors, and maybe rack up some big plays. Expect a heavy dose of the run game and a party-like atmosphere back in Georgia.
But the rest isn’t long. Sept. 20 brings in Arkansas State, a tough Sun Belt team with a fast-paced offense and aggressive defense. With back-to-back home games (Middle Tennessee follows on Sept. 27), this stretch could define the tone of the season.
Middle Tennessee comes to town just in time to close out the month. The Blue Raiders, no strangers to conference success, will test the Owls’ secondary and force KSU to win the turnover battle. Win here, and Kennesaw might enter October with serious momentum—and potential bowl talk.
Crunch Time in Conference USA
After a brief bye, Oct. 9 brings in Louisiana Tech for a Thursday night showdown. These are the types of spotlight games KSU needs to start winning. On Oct. 21, KSU travels south to face Florida International in a rare Tuesday night game. With only five days to prepare and a long trip to Miami, this has trap game written all over it.
Oct. 28 brings UTEP to Georgia. The Miners are often physical and will try to wear down KSU in the trenches, but this home game presents another big chance for the Owls to stack CUSA wins. With bowl eligibility in play, every win from here on counts.
November, however, is a beast.
It starts with a tough road trip to New Mexico State on Nov. 8. The Aggies have recently emerged as a Group of Five sleeper, and traveling to Las Cruces is no cakewalk. On Nov. 15, KSU hits the road again—this time to Jacksonville State in what could be a developing rivalry. Both are relatively new to the FBS world, and there’s pride at stake.
Back at home on Nov. 22, KSU welcomes Missouri State, a non-conference matchup late in the season that should provide a bit of breathing room. It’s also the last home game of the year, so you can bet the Owls will be looking to send the seniors off in style.

The regular season ends on Nov. 29 at Liberty, arguably the most dangerous game on the slate. Liberty’s fast-paced offense and strong quarterback play have made them one of the Group of Five’s strongest programs. For KSU, this could be a chance to turn heads—if they can hang tough or even pull off a shocker.
