David Pollack Calls Big Ten’s Early Kickoffs ‘Dumbest Thing I’ve Heard’

Add College Football Hall of Famer and Georgia legend David Pollack to the list of people making fun of FOX’s “Big Noon Kickoff.”

The linebacker had a laugh at the Big Ten’s scheduling, a topic that has been in the limelight all season, especially with Ohio State fans begging for night games.

David Pollack Blasts Early Big Ten Kickoffs

The Buckeyes — known for their blackout night games — have been hoping for late kickoffs, but FOX keeps putting them in the noon slot. This season, Ohio State will once again kickoff on Big Noon, even with Texas coming to town in Week 1 on Aug. 30. Making it one of the first games to start.

Pollack broke down the situation, mocking the Big Ten scheduling.

“It doesn’t make sense, but the Big Ten scheduling — the Big Ten prohibits this. They don’t let their teams do night games during the season. They don’t do prime-time night games. They haven’t done that,” Pollack said on “See Ball Get Ball with David Pollack.”

“That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard, ever. That doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t understand that. And it’s a thing. It’s a real thing. It’s not like that’s not like I’m making that up.”

But while complaints have gone in one ear and out the other at FOX, there may soon be some change. As Pollack and others blast the Big Ten for their scheduling choices, Ohio Representative Tex Fischer is taking legal action to prevent noon kicks for the Buckeyes.

Fischer’s bill would impose a hefty $10 million fine on the host team’s conference or television network, depending on who scheduled the game, if a game involving a state university or two top-10 teams in the AP Poll begins before 3:30 p.m. local time.

The bill has a carve-out for the Buckeyes’ rivalry game with Michigan, which traditionally starts at noon. It would also ban state universities from being associated with the NCAA, a conference or network that may compel a school to schedule a noon kickoff.
