Georgia Bulldogs Land 2026 No. 1 QB Drawing Comparisons to Josh Allen, Matt Stafford

Georgia has never struggled to attract top quarterbacks, especially with Kirby Smart’s elite reputation.

While 2025 will likely be the year of QB Gunner Stockton, Georgia and HC Kirby Smart will look to the future with their recent commitment of five-star QB Jared Curtis (TN), the top passer in the 2026 class.

Georgia’s 2026 Recruiting Class Surges With Jared Curtis’ Flip, More Strong Commitments

Landing five-star quarterback Jared Curtis wasn’t easy for Georgia. He had been leaning toward Oregon but quickly switched back to Georgia. It took months of hard work from Kirby Smart and his coaching staff.

Curtis first committed to Georgia in March 2024, but by October, he reopened his recruitment. That’s when the real battle began as Georgia and Oregon, led by Dan Lanning, went head-to-head. Insiders claim that it was a recruiting war that came down to the wire.

The 6’3″, 225-pound star from Nashville Christian High School is often compared to NFL talents Josh Allen and Matt Stafford because of his strong arm power and impressive mobility.

“You do a lot of comparison because of the arm of Matt Stafford. The more I dig into him, I kind of like the Josh Allen comparison because he’s got a little bit more. He’s all platform. He’s not 6’5″, but he is legit 6’3″,” recruiting expert Rusty Mansell explained.

With Jared Curtis officially on board, head coach Smart is turning his attention to recruiting more offensive weapons to build around his star quarterback.

One of the biggest names on Georgia’s radar is Mark Bowman, a five-star tight end from Mater Dei High School in California. Last season, he caught 32 passes for 435 yards and eight touchdowns, helping Mater Dei finish 13-0.

His physicality, athleticism, and game-changing ability have drawn comparisons to Brock Bowers from Rusty Mansell, making him one of the most sought-after recruits in the country.

“This guy is Brock Bowers, and I hate to say that on somebody, but this is the best player in the country to me,” Mansell said of the tight end prospect.

However, landing his commitment won’t be easy. Georgia is going head-to-head with Texas for Bowman. Tight ends coach Todd Hartley is leading Georgia’s push, with Mansell saying, “The biggest? It’s Georgia. But Texas is in the big boy battle right here. Todd Hartley is locked on him.”

Kirby Smart is focused on landing Georgia’s 10th straight top-five recruiting class. With Curtis secured and Bowman in his sights, Georgia’s offense is shaping up to be one of the most explosive in college football for years to come.

Now, it will be exciting to see if they can beat Texas in the race to land the 6’4″, 225-pound tight end.
