‘It Wasn’t Anything Good’—Mike Norvell Breaks Silence After Brutal Season, But Hints at What’s Quietly Changing at FSU

The Florida State Seminoles are looking to put the past behind them after a tough 2024 season that saw them win just 2 games overall and finish last in the conference. No one is more fired up about the prospect of a fresh start in 2025 than head coach Mike Norvell.

Florida State’s Mike Norvell Reflects on Struggles, Reveals What Gives Him Hope

Norvell recently chatted with the media about how poorly last season went and how he is hoping to change the game in 2025.

“It’s always about that constant push for improvement…I know our guys are definitely fired up for this season,” the FSU coach said.

Norvell also noted how, even though the 2024 season didn’t go as planned, it is important that the team learns from their mistakes and gets better because of them.

This is the right mindset for any coach to have after a surprisingly tough season.

Florida State Could Contend in 2025

While the Seminoles might not be the favorites in the conference, their fans should have plenty of reason to believe in 2025.

For starters, they were able to land some key players in the transfer portal, including quarterback Thomas Castellanos and wide receiver Duce Robinson. Also, the conference as a whole is not particularly stacked with great teams.

Yes, both Clemson and SMU made the College Football Playoff last season, but both also ended up getting beaten in the first round.

Miami lost star quarterback Cam Ward to the NFL, and Syracuse also lost their record-setting passer in Kyle McCord to the next level.

Lastly, even though Bill Belichick is taking over as head coach at North Carolina, it is still his first season as a head coach in college football.

This conference tends to be wide open at the beginning of every season. The Seminoles have as good a shot as any team to make a run at the conference title.
