The college football calendar could be in for a big change soon, Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger reported.
A newly proposed spring calendar could add six contactless practices and establish a single transfer portal window.

New Proposal Could Shake-Up College Football Calendar
The proposal, which has been shared with multiple ACC coaches, suggests a single transfer portal window in either January, March or April.
A proposal for a remade spring calendar – long expected – has been shared with coaches at ACC spring meetings, including the addition of six contactless OTA-style practices likely in May/June, several coaches told @YahooSports.
The 15 spring practices remain for a total of 21.

The portal currently has two windows — one in the winter after the final College Football Playoff rankings announcement and one in the spring — with many coaches calling to get rid of the spring window, On3’s Pete Nakos reported.
“I’m certainly in favor of shortening the portal windows,” South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer said. “I’m not anti-portal. We’ve benefited from the portal, but people don’t need two different portal windows that cover around six weeks to decide that they want to transfer from somewhere. You either want to be a part of that program or you don’t.
The proposal would add an additional six contactless OTA-style practices in either May or June, bringing the total number of practices a team can hold up to 21. The limit of 15 spring practices would still be in place, Dellenger reported.
Another version of the proposal would allow teams to spread those practices over two five-week periods between February and April and late May and June, Dellenger reported. The decision is not expected to be made until the single transfer portal window is decided, as well as the House v. NCAA settlement.
