Interestingly, heading into spring ball, DeBoer’s contract as the Crimson Tide head coach hadn’t been formally approved by the Alabama trustees. However, information obtained by AL.com suggests that his salary will be at least $10 million in 2024.
Financial records provided by the university show that DeBoer was paid a salary of $834,978 for the month of February. If that is a consistent monthly amount under the terms of his contract, then the Alabama head coach will make $10,019,736 this year.
That is almost double the $4.2 million salary DeBoer received with Washington in 2023 and three times more than the amount he received under his first contract with the Huskies. Reportedly, the program offered over $9 million to retain his services going forward, but the pull of Tuscaloosa proved too great to ignore.
“I have always had an incredible respect for Alabama football and its commitment to excellence,” DeBoer explained in an official statement.
“The tradition-rich history of this program is unmatched across the landscape of college athletics, and I look forward to continue that moving forward. Following Coach Saban is an honor. He has been the standard for college football, and his success is unprecedented. I would not have left Washington for just any school.”
DeBoer’s salary has increased as rapidly as his college football coaching career has progressed. He took his first head coaching role at Fresno State in 2020, guiding the Bulldogs to a 3-3 record in that globally disrupted year.
Since then, his teams have never finished below .750, and the new Alabama head coach has one of the best winning records in college football. In four years, he has compiled a .804 record, while his two seasons in Seattle produced a .893 record, with just three losses. His only bowl loss was the College Football National Championship Game defeat against Michigan.
“Coach DeBoer has proven he is a winner and has done an incredible job as a head coach at each of his stops,” Alabama AD Greg Byrne said on announcing DeBoer’s appointment, showcasing how important his impressive résumé was in landing what is arguably the biggest jobs in all of football.

With DeBoer’s contract yet to be officially confirmed, it isn’t possible to ascertain his net worth. However, it’s likely that he’ll earn over $10 million this season, giving us a good base figure from which to start.
Add in his $1.35 million salary from Year 1 with Fresno State, his $7.3 million across two seasons with Washington, and DeBoer’s net worth as a head coach is nearing $20 million. That doesn’t factor in future earnings with Alabama.
