Coach Prime Builds Stacked Secondary for 2025 With Eyes on One More CB

Colorado’s football secondary, a crucial part of the team’s defense, has undergone significant changes and improvements, particularly under the leadership of defensive coordinator Robert Livingston. In the past, the unit used to be considered one of the team’s weaknesses but is now recognized as a strong point of the team.

Colorado lost a number of players this off-season, with the departure of standout cornerback Travis Hunter to the NFL putting a significant dent on the team’s secondary. Head coach Deion Sanders has looked to the transfer portal to stack up his team.

Coach Prime Reloads Colorado’s Secondary With Depth and Talent

To kickstart the month of May, Colorado picked up cornerback Noah King, a true freshman defensive back from Kansas State. King’s addition means Colorado have added four new players in less than two days. King isn’t expected to start right away as a true freshman, but he’s expected to add depth and quality to an already stacked secondary unit.

King joins safety Terrance Love and cornerback Teon Parks as post-spring game commits, although Coach Prime has made it known that he’s still looking for another cornerback. After Colorado’s spring game, Sanders said he wanted three corners from the transfer portal, so it’s safe to assume he isn’t done adding to his roster.

Following the exit of stars such as Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter, Jimmy Horn and LaJohntay Wester to the NFL, Colorado must have to rebuild their program and that’s what Coach Prime has been doing this off-season.

Colorado’s 2025 recruiting class may not rank as one of the 20 best in the country, but Coach Prime put together an incoming group with more than a few potential stars.

Among Colorado’s new intakes are offensive lineman Larry Johnson III and safety John Slaughter, who joined from Tennessee. Also, running back DeKalon Taylor was acquired from Louisville, while top-rated wide receiver Hykeem Williams was brought in from Florida State.
