Boise State Schedule

A season of high expectations for the Broncos came tumbling down to reality in college football Week 1 as Boise State was humbled by the Washington Huskies. Andy Avalos’ team took a 56-19 beating back to Boise with them, but given the Huskies’ Pac-12 title aspirations, it shouldn’t dishearten the Broncos too much. A second consecutive Power Five matchup awaits vs. UCF.

Boise State’s other two out-of-conference games are both winnable, although Memphis is an under-the-radar AAC contender. Set to contest for the Mountain West title, the Nov. 4 clash with Fresno State is the date to circle on the Broncos’ schedule, as the 2022 Mountain West Championship Game rematch will go a long way to defining their season.

UCF Schedule

After becoming a perennial Group of Five contender in the AAC, not to mention a self-proclaimed national champion, UCF strapped on their big boy pants and headed for the Big 12 for the 2023 college football season. However, this Boise State game will be their second dalliance with the Go5 in 2023 after opening the season with a 56-6 shellacking of a depleted Kent State side.

As such, the Boise State vs. UCF game gives the Knights their first real test of the season. Quarterback John Rhys Plumlee won’t find it so easy to run on the Broncos’ defense, challenging him to beat them through the air. Nonetheless, as a 3.5-point favorite, the Knights will be confident of a road win, which should set them up to begin Big 12 play with an unbeaten record.
