The Los Angeles Chargers offered a rare behind-the-scenes look at their NFL draft room setup. Here’s what goes into preparing for the big night on the biggest stage of them all.

Inside the Chargers’ NFL Draft War Room: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Setup
Typically, glimpses into NFL teams’ war rooms are brief, as viewers are dropped in while a team ponders its choice and again after, when the front office celebrates the decision. The Chargers’ director of player personnel strategy, Corey Krawiec, guides a video posted Wednesday on X ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Krawiec begins the video by introducing a large electronic grid on the wall behind him.
“What’s gonna take up the most space in this room is our draft board, and before anyone, like, freaks out and worries that we’re giving everything away, this is our movie and TV character board that we set up for testing purposes,” Krawiec said.
The board is sorted into grade levels, positions and units. Beside the board to the right, there are screens that will feature team-by-team picks, which help decision-makers keep track of what’s going on as they wait and prepare to make what they think is the best choice.
“We can kind of walk over here and look at patterns and trends and see what positions, what players other teams have already taken,” Krawiec said.
The setup also includes a “pick board” that lists out every pick in the draft, round by round. A final group of screens has the draft’s television broadcasts on. Tucked in the bottom corner of those is a spot for the official clock.
There’s a main table that head coach Jim Harbaugh will sit at the head of, beside team general manager Joe Hortiz, executive vice president of football administration and player finance Ed McGuire, and assistant GM Chad Alexander. McGuire will submit the team’s picks. The seats across from them are reserved for team ownership, and the other end of the table is for coordinators Greg Roman, Jesse Minter and Ryan Ficken.
The Chargers currently own the No. 22 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. In a recent joint mock draft scenario with Field Yates, ESPN NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. projected Los Angeles to take Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.

“Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert would love Egbuka’s crisp route running and sure hands on the outside,” Kiper wrote. “Los Angeles can build its receiver room back up around him, Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston, with Mike Williams providing a veteran presence after his return this offseason.”
