2026 four-star QB Bowe Bentley has gathered much attention in the class of 2026. The 6’2, 200-pound signal-caller is a dual-threat from Celina High School (TX), who has intrigued the college football world with his entry point.
However, the latest update from Bentley’s visits might have a broader impact on the SEC-wide recruiting race for the quarterback.

Bowe Bentley Creates 2026 Recruiting Buzz After Swapping LSU, Oklahoma Visit Dates
Last season, Bentley led Celina to a 16-0 record and its first state championship since 2007. He also plays soccer and lacrosse at Celina High School. The three-sport talent is ranked as the nation’s seventh-best quarterback and 76th prospect.
Unsurprisingly, the budding quarterback has over 30 college offers, but he has narrowed his options to two SEC powerhouses: LSU and Oklahoma. He had scheduled visits to LSU and Oklahoma, initially planning to visit Oklahoma first and then LSU, but his latest reshuffle signals that he will be headed to Louisiana first.

An X post from Chad Simmons recently highlighted the flip. “4–star QB Bowe Bentley of Celina (Texas) has flipped his visits to LSU and Oklahoma around. He will be in Baton Rouge on May 30, then trip to Norman on June 6.”
Bentley moved his official visit to LSU to May 30, while Oklahoma will now get the final visit on June 6. This new development will have LSU fans feeling less optimistic about securing his commitment, as Oklahoma will now get to present the final pitch. However, this new era of NIL has ensured that the final pitch doesn’t necessarily mean the best one.
Bentley’s Oklahoma preference might be influenced by his family, as they are lifelong Sooners fans, but he has already claimed that he won’t let that cloud his judgment.
Bentley is one of the last high-pedigree four-star quarterbacks yet to commit to a school, so whichever school misses out on him may be just about completely out of luck in the 2026 recruiting class.

Meanwhile, LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier offers the Tigers their ray of hope, at least until he heads to the NFL. Nussmeier is projected to be a first-round pick in 2026.
Conversely, Oklahoma’s John Mateer might also go pro, meaning both programs need to tap into future quarterback talent. In such a scenario, Bentley offers a good option for both SEC names and their upcoming seasons.
