Running back Roydell Williams (Alabama), along with receivers Malik Benson (Alabama) and WR Jalen Brown (LSU), are all transfers that earned first-unit nods on the initial Florida State depth chart.

Defensive Returners In the Mix on Initial Florida State Depth Chart
While the offense is propelled by an infusion of transfers, the defense is returning several key contributors.
Linebacker DJ Lundy, strong safety Shyheim Brown, defensive tackle Joshua Farmer, corners Fentrell Cypress II and Azareye’h Thomas, and defensive end Patrick Payton are all returners that popped up on the first unit for FSU’s Week 0 depth chart.
Defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. (Georgia) and linebacker Cam Riley (Auburn) also cracked the top rotation as first-year Seminoles, though Riley is still competing to keep his spot.
Competition Continues to Brew at OL, LB, and DB
Five positions had an “OR” designation next to the first unit on the Florida State depth chart for Week 0, signaling a competition at right tackle, right guard, linebacker, nickel, and free safety.
Jeremiah Byers and Robert Scott Jr. are battling for right tackle, while Keiondre Jones and TJ Ferguson will compete at right guard.
Newcomer Riley and Blake Nicholson are fighting for one of the linebacker spots, while Kevin Knowles II and Earl Little Jr. compete at nickel. Davonte Brown and Conrad Hussey are jockeying to be on the first unit at free safety.
